Keeping Up Great Oral Health On The Daily

Maintaining great oral health requires daily care for your teeth. By following a consistent routine, you can keep your teeth clean, prevent common dental issues, and preserve a bright smile. Here are key steps to include in your daily dental care routine:

Brush Twice a Day

Brushing your teeth at least twice a day is a hugely successful way of preventing many dental issue while uplifting your oral health and whiteness of your teeth. Typically it is recommended to do so once in the morning after waking up, and once at night before bed. With a soft-bristled toothbrush and toothpaste, brush gently in circular motions making sure to brush over all surfaces of your teeth and gums. Don’t forget to brushing over your tongue and behind your teeth!

Flossing

Flossing is important in removing plaque and food particles from between your teeth and gums. With a piece of floss, either free-handed or with a floss pick, slide the floss between each tooth reaching to the gum line. Saw the forwards and backwards as your work your way up and out from between the teeth.

Rinsing with Mouthwash

Using some sort of antimicrobial mouthwash helps to kill bacteria whilst also freshening your breath. Rinse for around 30 seconds after finishing brushing and flossing. Try to use a recommended mouthwash that is alcohol-free and contains fluoride to better protect against cavitied

Diet

Your diet can play a huge role in not only your overall health but you oral health as well. Try to avoid sugary, acidic and overly sticky foods and drinks whenever possible as they further accelerate the chances of tooth decay and other dental issues. Instead, have a balanced diet, making sure to have a good amount of fruits, vegetables, grains and lean proteins (low fat). Drinking water will also help with both rinsing your mouth and keeping your nice and hydrated! Optionally at your own discretion, it may be beneficial to brush, floss and/or rinse afterwards.

Regular Dental Check-ups

Don’t forget to schedule regular dental check-ups by professionals. Getting your teeth professionally cleaned by dental hygienists and checked on by dentists will definitely help you in maintain great oral health. Dental professionals will also be able to detect any early signs of oral issues and come up with appropriate treatments.

By following these simple steps, and spending only a handful of minutes a day on your own oral health, you can have for yourself great oral health and enjoy a confident smile for a long time!
